Run, don’t walk! This place is a gem – you can really tell they use fresh ingredients and grind their own spices. The foods is lively, creative, perfectly cooked, and of course delicious. I can’t wait to go back.

Before ordering dinner we had already chosen our desserts. Amanda ordered the lavender rice pudding – yum! I had the homemade black cardamom khulfi (ice cream) flavored with saffron and black pepper. If I was standing up, this dessert would have brought me to my knees. Of course, I was sold at ‘cardamom,’ but the delicate balance of the saffron and pepper made me cream my tastebuds- omg so good! I savored every. single. bite. This was the type of evening where I just wanted to sit back and stay awhile. If I could pick only one word to describe The Guilt Trip, it would be ‘comfort.’

That’s what The Guilt Trip has — “it all.” We ordered 4 small plates, a cocktail, and a dessert for two of us to share and it was PLENTY. The four small plates included the spicier of the Tandori Chicken dishes (I’m sorry, I cannot remember the names of the dishes, so I’m going to describe them instead), the Lamb Sliders, the salad (there’s only one, I think), and the Samosas.

You need to know first that as a fusion restaurant, these things will not all be presented in ways you recognize from most typical Indian restaurants. So preconceived notions need to be set aside to enjoy. That said — you will enjoy! The Tandori chicken was absolutely wonderful. Perfectly cooked, a nice but not overwhelming char on it. The chutney it was served on top of (I think it was mint and something spicy, but I cannot remember) was so well balanced and flavorful. It also came with a roasted jalapeno on the side, but it was too spicy for me (I usually like a fair bit of spice, but this overwhelmed my palate — I could enjoy the food better leaving that behind. It made for a beautiful presentation, though. The lamb sliders — the bun/roll was buttery and strong enough to hold the “sloppy” lamb mixture but also crispy on the outside and very soft on the inside. This was probably my favorite dish, though I loved them all. My husband’s was the chicken. The samosas were unusual. Here, I decided to copy and paste the description from the menu: “Samosa Mattar Chaat — Peas ‘n’ Potatoes Samosa, with mushy spiced peas, drizzled with a tamarind and mint chutney in an explosion of flavors. Vegan as well!”

Well – that description is perfect. It is an explosion of flavors. We were not expecting to the samosas being right IN the mushy peas, but they were. This turned out to be perfectly delightful.

The Rangoli Salad with the lemon ginger dressing was just as tasty as the hot dishes, and provided a nice balance of fresh vegetables to the heavier flavors. Personally, while we ordered it for the “veggies” aspect, it was every bit as tasty and important a part of our meal as the rest. Every time I ate of bit of it, I caught myself thinking, “This might be my favorite dish.” But then I’d try another dish again and think the same thing. Honestly, all 4 were so good, I couldn’t really choose.

My husband and I shared a ginger pineapple mojito (yes, I said mojito in an “Indian” restaurant). It was pretty sweet, but lovely. Whoever designed this drink knew how to make it taste like it had ginger and pineapple, without letting either flavor overpower the drink or the drinker. I would highly recommend this if those flavors appeal to you.

If you are at all a fan of Indian flavors (but not too stuck on traditional), you will LOVE this place. Try it!

Surprisingly good. The fusions offered do not inspire too much confidence, but end up working unexpectedly well. The Delhi Beat fries were simply out of this world. I think it alone warrants a visit. The same goes for the malpua — soft on the inside, crispy on the outside, and just divine. Oh, and they serve decent main dishes as well. Their interpretation of the kathi roll would considerably irk the puritans. But all will be forgiven once one bites into a paneer jalapeno roll. Arguably one of the best joints for Indian fare in the Greater Seattle area.

This place is the perfect blend of friendly staff, amazing food, upscale but relaxing atmosphere and fantastic drinks. The prices are a littler higher than other places but you leave feeling it was well worth it. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be providing their services, however remember that you get what you give. I had the small lamb burger and an iced chai and it was fan-f***ing-tastic! I will probably end up making this place a Sunday afternoon ritual.

This place is amazing. It’s an Indian-American fusion restaurant. It puts fresh twists on classic Indian flavors. Things like fried chicken with a barbecue sauce with Indian styling. A very unique experience, right down to the conventional sounding salad, which had subtle hints of chili in the dressing.

Best food ever! Brilliant and thoughtful dishes made with a keen eye for fusion and remarkably comforting. The owners and the staff are incredible. The ambience is great. Must visit. I’d give it 10 stars if I could!

The food was AMAZING. Had enough of the classic Indian flavor profile I was craving but the modern, fusion twist took it to another level, with incredible flavor and freshness. I would recommend everything and I will definitely be back.

A FUNKY TAKE ON TRADITIONAL INDIAN FARE. Probably the only place you’ll find an Oreo Lassi (delicious!). But it doesn’t stop there. Get creative and try some of the more wacky ‘fusion’ fare offered. A great place to experiment and take in the creative dishes that veer just enough off the traditional Indian route to pique your interest in Indian all over again.

If you were born and raised in India and truly miss the street food, the guilt trip is the answer. If you are Indian American that loves indian food but also enjoy the all American greasyness, the guilt trip is also the answer! This is not your typical indian restaurant! By far one of the best Indian restaurants in Washington.

We love everything about this unique little restaurant. What a find! The food is creatively prepared and presented. The flavors are outstanding. My husband and I are vegetarians and this, by far, is our favorite place to eat in the entire Seattle area. Tonight, he enjoyed their pineapple ginger mojito and I was thrilled with the strawberry mint sangria. I can wholeheartedly recommend the “small plates” of Tikka (masala mint paneer), Aamchi Mumbai Pav (mashed potato sliders), Samosa Mattar Chaat, and the Fried Green Banana Chaat. The sliders were crazy-good…with a potato filling like that of a masala dosa. And, don’t miss the banana chaat! If you like fried plantains, you’ll go nuts over this dish! Not only was the food fantastic but the genuinely kind service and overall pleasant vibe of Guilt Trip will bring us back time and time again. Try it. It’s a gem of a restaurant.

We’ve been through the menu including all the updates made, we’ve been amazed and every new meal has been an amazing culinary experience without a doubt, the food is outstanding, staff is super polite and very aware, we order from this place at least once a week. If you want good food, this is the place in Redmond where none of the options would be the wrong one.

Amazing. Stupendous. Outrageous. Yelpalicious! Thank you Yelp for coming through for me. While on a business trip, I did a Yelp excursion and found this incredible gem. We were seated and the owner came over to describe his restaurant and thoughts about food. I was hooked from the get-go and decided to just let him tell me what he thought was great and went ahead and ordered it.

Started with the Aamchi Mumbai Pav which was a unique filled potato ball served in the form of a slider. After my first bite, this was no longer just an appetizer for me. I was in for an experience and the orchestra just started to play.

My main was suggested by the owner, who was I to dispute? He said it was his favorite and I was overwhelmed with eagerness. Ordered the Lamb Trikone and 2/2 I was again amazed at the flavors all coming together. Let there be no mistake I love spicy food, this dish was very spicy and I while I was a sweaty mess I could not have cared less. The flavor of the lamb came right through and stood prominent, behind it was some curious spices that I am sure others could describe better and identify, the end was the heat that melded everything together. I have never had anything like this dish in my life, simple yet stunning.

Rounding out the meal was the only thing I deviated from the opinion of the owner. I went with my homies, the local Yelpers and got the White Chocolate Mocha Paratha. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Creamy with hues of coffee with crunchy pieces throughout this dessert was the perfect end.

Overall, I consider The Guilt Trip to be one of the best food experiences I have ever had. I consider it less of a restaurant and more of a synchronized meal provider (cheezy yes, but Im at a loss for words). Everything just fit in their perfect little puzzle space and left me in awe.

Highest rating, Highly recommended.

We have been here a couple of times with friends and The Guilt Trip in addition to great food offers great warmth and a brilliant setting for a great conversation. The decor is festive and yet homely, quite similar to the food which is experimental and yet rooted in true flavors. They don’t ask you – “how spicy?”… They tell you, “this will be spicy!” (or not)… And that to me is the essence of a true Indian culinary experience…

Honestly this is just my favorite place to indulge. Just love the attention to flavors, both bold and subtle giving a great balance. “Tradition take on all the favorites, and a new modern flare with amazing new ideas” is an understatement to what they do here.

I would give this place a 5 for its authentic food, the spice and the staff.
We ordered lamb trikone, pani puri initially, As I started devouring on the food, I felt great, my wife loved pani puri. pani was in tequila shot glass and presentation was great. Then I ordered Kashmiri kawah tea which blew my mind, last time i had sipped that kind of chai was on my wedding and it exactly tasted like that. We were amazed and i had to meet the person who made that tea. This is a chic urban place and if you are a regular Joe you might not understand the food or the place. A big thumbs up if you wanna try something Hatke (different)

This place does not look like much and if you want a fancy ambiance then go else where BUT if you want AMAZING Indian/South Asian food, this is the place to go! We tried a lot of different items on the menu and to my surprise everything was fantastic. Authentic and home cooked, worth every penny!
